REPORT: Kogi governorship candidate Audu Abubakar dead

Several reports suggest that Prince Audu Abubakar who contested the Kogi governorship election on the platform of the APC and was the clear leader before the vote was declared inconclusive by the electoral commission, has passed on.
We are at this time unable to verify this piece of news from various sources online but this is how SaharaReporters captures it:
The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state, Mr. Abubakar Audu is dead.
Mr. Audu died of undisclosed medical reasons shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared his victory at the elections inconclusive. Saharareporters could not determine the cause of Mr. Audu’s death.
We’ll bring you details as soon as we are able to get a confirmation. The latest phone call we received from Kogi put the death down to an assassination. But at this point, we’d rather tread with caution.
