Less than two weeks after the death of High Chief Balogun Sulaimon
Adegboyega Omiyale, Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, who was next in rank
to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I, another
second in rank in the Olubadan-In-Council, High Chief Omowale Kuye, died
Thursday night at the age of 87.
Kuye's death, according to sources within Olubadan-In-Council who confided in THISDAY, was seen as one death too many, especially coming 12 days after Omiyale died at the ripe age of 92. He was buried on Friday at his Ikolaba residence in accordance with Islamic rites.
With the death of Omiyale, Kuye was seen as another potential Olubadan-in-waiting being the next in rank from the Civil Line (Otun) to the throne of Olubadan of Ibadanland. The current holder, Oba Odulana clocked 102years recently.

Until his death, Kuye was a step to becoming Olubadan. And with his
death on Thursday, the current Otun Balogun, High Chief Saliu Adetunji,
is expected to get promotion to the office of Balogun Olubadan any
moment from now.
Kuye, a successful career officer and top ranking leaders of
Ibadanland, was a former Director General, Special Duties and later
Budget in the Office of the President of Nigeria.
Kuye, who was 87 years at the time he breathed his last at 11:20p.m at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on Thursday, was said to have been rushed to UCH at about 7:30p.m on Thursday
